Restlesslegs
premiere in 2020
A need to move that is uncommonly hard to describe, similar to an urge to yawn but in your arms or legs. The performance is an exploration of this painful, electrical, creeping, itching, pulling, crawling, buzzing, or numb sensation that ultimately stops you from finding rest. In a search for relief the protagonists turn to all matter of ropes: Jumping and climbing to exhaust the restless body or desperately tying knots in an attempt to quiet the ceaseless movement.
"Legs moving, I just want to sleep, it feels endless, rub the feet together, heavy blanket hopefully push my legs down, maybe squeeze them between the wall and bed, tie them with the sheet, hang them off from the side, not working, must get up, a sip of water, few steps, maybe a bit more work, perhaps that’s the problem, it was not enough, couple of squats, I should write a to do list for tomorrow, wash the face, breathing exercises, camomile or lemongrass, both, not enough, need a spliff, no air, definitely it’s more than physical, the day was too short, could have done more, or better, both again, no worries, there is tomorrow, almost there, tomorrow we fix everything, we do everything, now why go to sleep?, do something meaningful instead,"
